Gutter Screens in Bend, Oregon
A gutter packed with dry pine needles is kindling bolted to the edge of your roof. Gutters Plus installs Firewise metal gutter screens across Central Oregon, and every install includes a full cleaning, leak inspection, and repair before the screens go on. Owner-operated, licensed, bonded, and insured.
Fire season special: 25% off the Firewise screen system. Free estimates everywhere in our service area.
Why Open Gutters Are a Liability in Central Oregon
Ponderosa country drops needles all year long, and they collect in exactly one place: your gutters. By late summer that trough is full of dry, sun-baked fuel sitting inches from your fascia, your soffit vents, and the underside of your roof deck. One wind-blown ember is all it takes.
The rest of the year the same debris causes the slower kind of damage. Water backs up over the front lip instead of going down the downspout, and it lands against siding, trim, and the ground next to your stem wall. Screens address both in one visit.
- Dry needles in an open gutter are ember fuel at roof level
- Clogged runs overflow onto fascia, siding, and foundations
- Standing debris holds water against wood fascia
- Packed gutters add weight that pulls hangers loose in winter
Firewise Metal Gutter Screens
We install Firewise-compliant metal mesh screening, not plastic inserts. It covers the gutter opening and lets water through while needles, leaves, and roof grit shed off the edge. It fits your existing gutters or goes on as part of a new seamless gutter install.
- Firewise-compliant metal mesh, no plastic
- Keeps out pine needles, leaves, and roof grit
- May help meet wildfire-mitigation recommendations
- Fits existing gutters or new seamless installs
- Cleaning, leak inspection, and repair included with installation
- Installed by the owner, not a rotating crew
Firewise gutter screens may help meet wildfire-mitigation recommendations. Check with your insurance carrier for available discounts or requirements.
25% Off the Firewise Gutter Screen System
Fire season is here. Have your gutters cleaned, inspected, and protected in one visit: the Firewise screen system is 25% off, with cleaning, leak inspection, and repair included. Ask about it when you call.
One Visit, Three Things Done
We do not screen over a dirty or leaking gutter. Everything below is included when you have the Firewise screen system installed.
Clean It Out
Full gutter and downspout cleaning. Every needle, leaf, and pile of shingle grit comes out, and the debris leaves with us.
Inspect & Repair
We check every seam, miter, and hanger for leaks and sag, then reseal or rehang what needs it before the screens go on.
Screen It
Firewise metal mesh installed over the full run, so the gutter you just paid to clean stays clean.
Screens vs. Clearing Them Out Twice a Year
Under Central Oregon pine cover, an open gutter is a recurring chore. Here is the honest comparison.
Screens Handle Debris. Winter Is a Different Job.
Screens keep your gutters clear year round, but Bend's freeze and thaw cycle is its own problem. Ice dams form at the roof edge and pry gutters off the house regardless of what is or is not inside them. If your home has a history of icicles along the eave or water showing up inside in February, ask about heat cable while we are out.
- Ice melt heat cable sized to your roofline, most systems automatic
- Seamless gutters in over 40 Sherwin-Williams finished colors
- Underground drainage to carry roof water away from the foundation
- Cleaning and repair if screens are not the right call yet

Gutter Screen Questions
Are Firewise gutter screens worth it in Central Oregon?
Yes. Dry pine needles in an open gutter are fuel for wind-blown embers. Firewise gutter screens may help meet wildfire-mitigation recommendations. Check with your insurance carrier for available discounts or requirements.
Will gutter screens fit my existing gutters?
Yes. We install Firewise screens on existing gutters as well as on new seamless gutter installs. If your current gutters are in rough shape, we will tell you straight whether screens make sense or whether the runs should be replaced first.
Are your gutter screens metal or plastic?
Metal. We install Firewise-compliant metal mesh, no plastic. Plastic screens are the wrong material to have at your roofline in ember country, and they get brittle under Central Oregon sun.
Do I still need my gutters cleaned if I have screens?
Screens keep the bulk of pine needles, leaves, and roof grit out of the gutter, so you are not up on a ladder every fall. It is still worth having the system looked at periodically, especially under heavy pine cover.
What is included when you install gutter screens?
Cleaning, leak inspection, and repair are included with gutter screen installation. We clear the gutters out, check every seam and miter for leaks, and fix what we find before the screens go on.
Will gutter screens help with ice dams?
Screens keep debris from blocking the gutter, but ice dams are a separate problem. For freeze and thaw damage we install ice melt heat cable, which works alongside screens on the same roofline.
Do you install gutter screens in Redmond, Sisters, and Sunriver?
Yes. We are based in Bend and install gutter screens across Central Oregon, including Redmond, Sisters, Sunriver, Terrebonne, and Tumalo. See our service area page for details.
How much do gutter screens cost?
It depends on how much gutter your home has and what shape it is in, so the estimate is free. Right now the Firewise screen system is 25% off as part of our fire season special.
How long does the job take?
Most installations take one to two days from start to finish, and screen jobs are usually on the shorter end of that. We will give you a straight answer when we look at your roofline.
